  • A Big Girl Lunch

After spending two weeks here and taking care of kids every day I am going to a big girl lunch with my friend Corliss! It will not be Macdonalds and I won't be eating left over french fries from a happy meal!  I will use curse words and gossip!  I am so excited!  Now I know how Courtnee feels when she gets sprung!  Yippeeee!!!
  • With Apologies to Dr. Seuss

JUST ANOTHER MANIC THURSDAY Morning Before School!

    Mister! Mister!  Don't hit sister!

Eat your pancake drink your drink - its so loud I cannot think!

Get your shoes on -- use your hood - pinching Annie is not good!

Scarlett! Scarlett!  Quit your hiding - stop your kicking - no more biting!

No you cannot drive the van!  Only me and Daddy can!

Cami you can't wear Lilli's dress!  Get over here your hairs a mess!

  • Toddler |Identity Theft/or Borrow

Frequently the quints and even Lilli say |"Don't call me Weston or Annie or Cami - call me Sammy or Hannah or Jessica"  This morning while I was getting Weston's socks on he said "Don't call me Weston call me Elmo!"  I went back in time to when my son Colby used to have us call him Luke Skywalker or Obie Wan Kanobie all day.  |My brother-in-law who shall forever remain the baby of the family because he was born when my husband was 16 once went on a |"Call me Ponzie" faze.  The family refused until one night his dad put him to bed and said "Goodnight Ponzie!|"  Mark said he layed in bed with a sudden feeling of dread.  He said he felt as if his identity had been stolen.  He got out of bed in the dark and yelled down the hall "|I|'M| |MARK!!!||" He said he never wanted to be called Ponzie again.

Please just for today - don't call me Gramma Cheri.  Call me Angelina Jolie!

  • Crazy but sweet!

I'm spending three weeks helping my daughters with their wee ones!  It is a labor I love but I'm sometimes exhausted and overwhelmed! My daughter Courtnee is working towards a nursing degree - this in spite of having a family of six children!  A family that size is a challange in itself but - hold on to everything you love - her brood includes five kids (quintuplets) who recently turned 3.  Her oldest daughter is 6.  Here is a snapshot of yesterday:

Wake up when I hear the patter and voices of Courtnee and the kids and stagger upstairs to help.  I'm a coffee addict and I am unable to function until I at least take a few quick slurps.  Many, many requests build to a fevered pitch.  "I want Kix....I want Cherrios....I want a muffin....I want the princess cup...I have to go potty....Scarlett is hitting me....Hold me Grandma....No me!!"  To my never ending awe Courtnee is patiently going from one task to another and manages to make pig tails out of four little tangled heads, find a satisfactory outfit to please a kindergarden fashinista and have them loaded in her 14 passanger van  buckled in and singing the Wheels on the Bus before I can manage to buckle my own seatbelt. We drop Lilli, the 6 year old at her Montessori school then drop the quints at their Montessori school 5 miles in another direction.  Then thank God - Starbucks drive thru!

Courtnee runs through the schedule for me...I cringe when I realize she has me picking up Lilli and her buddy at school and then meeting her at the doctor's office to finish the quints well checkup and then gulp -driving that scary monster van while she takes off for her school!  Eeeee!!  Somehow I do it.  That turns out to be not at all the scariest part of the day.  Thankfully, Courtnee is blessed with some helper/friends who come weekly to help with the pack.  Greta is chasing Scarlett in the playroom/attic and hits her head on the ceiling so hard that it knocks her out! She is unable to get up and I make the decision to call 911.  The quints become silent for the first time since they were birthed as two screaming aid cars arrive and half carry Greta from the attic to the aid car.  Poor Courtnee arrives to see aid cars all over her driveway.  I gather up Greta's things including a pair of shoes that assume belong to her.  Comic relief after we find out Greta is ok....I gave away someone elses shoes...A lovely woman by the name of Mardel who I found out had to drive home with bare feet.

What can top that day?  I'm afraid to find
